Empowering Pheareak: A Journey of Faith and Service in Cambodia
A true testament to the heart behind PIKO Capital. Pheareak’s journey is a powerful reminder of the financial struggles many face while serving in ministry.

This week, I’d like to share the story of Pheareak (pronounced pia-RECK), a dedicated Cambodian ministry leader who has been facing some tough challenges. Due to recent downsizing within the church, Pheareak has taken on several additional roles. On top of that, he and his wife have just welcomed their first child, a daughter, and are struggling to make ends meet. While they would love to save for a house, that goal feels far out of reach at the moment. Ministry positions, especially in Cambodia, are not financially rewarding, and the combination of support raising and long work hours makes it hard for them to save. Both Pheareak and his wife work full time, and the total monthly amount they need to get by is around $800 USD.
Pheareak is now grappling with whether to leave his ministry to take a higher-paying job, which would allow his wife to reduce her hours and spend more time with their newborn.
Despite these hardships, Pheareak is overseeing more than 1,000 Cambodian Christian youth, whom he believes can be raised up as the next generation of leaders. His faith and dedication to their growth is inspiring.
Pheareak’s story is one of the key reasons we founded PIKO Capital. Having personally experienced the financial strain of serving in ministry, I understand the challenges that come with it—Pheareak is living it on a much deeper level. Our goal with PIKO Capital is to support people like him, who are willing to make significant sacrifices for the Gospel, ensuring they can continue the work God has called them to. We believe that God always provides for His people, and we are honored to be a part of that provision.
In a world where ministry often comes with financial struggles, stories like Pheareak's remind us of the resilience and unwavering faith that keep people serving despite the hardships. Through initiatives like PIKO Capital, we hope to provide the support these dedicated individuals need to continue their important work. Let’s come together to help those who are selflessly sacrificing for the Gospel, ensuring they can keep making a lasting impact.
If you’d like to bless Pheareak with a gift or send a letter of encouragement (he speaks excellent English), please don’t hesitate to reach out, and we will make sure it gets to him.
